I am 49. I have noticed that my energy levels have dipped from past 1 year. Feel tired all the time. No energy to exercise. I am going thru perimenopause. Periods are irregular. Muscle pain, knee pain...like when climbing staircase for a split second there is shock in knee cap which goes away on its own. Orthopaedic has mentioned not to sit in vajrasan, not to squat, not to sit in padmasan...all this is making me feel like senior citizen n helpless.

Hello Jasmine! Thank you for sharing your experience with energy levels. Lack of motivation, period irregularity, and muscle pains can all be symptoms of perimenopause. Ensuring that your baseline blood tests are in place is always a good idea to look for any obvious causes. And I am glad you had your knee checked out by an orthopedic. Building strength and motivation isn't something that happens in a day or even a month. It is always a work in progress. I like to use the "Start small and use small increment" policy. For eg, walk for 10 minutes and increase it only by 5 minutes every few days. I also find having an accountability partner useful - a friend, relative, or mobile application that will nudge me to move. We are planning to have a session with Life Coach @parul501 in the near future. She is the author of The Running Soul and has a lot to share about motivation and physical fitness.
